Flash fiction is a short story written in 500 words or less. In this course, study  fine examples of the genre and discover the the bliss of brevity. Learn how to sharpen your voice, edit your sentences and write for impact. Be prepared for spontaneous writing in class and to complete several short, short stories of your own.

This is a workshop for both those who are already writing and those who would like to begin. In each class, we will consider one formal element of fiction or creative non-fiction such as: point of view, description, dialog, plot and pacing. Students will be given timed writing prompts, and will read their work aloud in class. Motivation, organization and inspiration for writers will be considered. Students should bring whatever they use to write (paper and pen, laptop or tablet) to each class.
