Integral or Hatha Yoga is an ancient form of yoga also known as Shivananda Yoga. It is an ageless yoga acceptable for young and old and different body types. This class is designed for multi-level practitioners with special attention for those with physical limitations. Beginners are welcome.

A yoga class especially for students who are looking for a safe, mindful approach to yoga.  Emphasizing four essential skills – Balance, Strength, Flexibility and Agility – the class is perfect for people new to yoga or students with some experience.  Each class will begin with a reading about how yoga contributes to Healthy Aging.  NOT a chair yoga class!  Students should feel comfortable getting down onto the floor; modifications of the poses will be offered for people with differing abilities. Bring a yoga mat and a blanket.  (If you have yoga blocks or a strap, bring them but they are not required.)

Eastern Religions introduces students to the work of selected philosophers, such as Confucius, Lao Tzu, and the Buddha and some of the basics of Advaita Vedanta, a Hindu philosophy of non-dualism. The professor will describe the origins of Buddhism arising from the life story of the Siddhartha Gautama, a Hindu prince. She will analyze the content and meaning of the Buddha’s Four Noble Truths in order to help the class understand basic Buddhist teachings and the transformation of consciousness that can arise from meditation. The course will look at the basic elements of traditional Taoist values, ideals, and ancient Chinese beliefs including Qi Gong, Yin and Yang. The course will include the focus and goals of Confucianism, especially in terms of the Five Great Relationships, the Confucian Virtues, and the notion of the "noble person."
