Trace the history of slavery and slave-trading in the Muslim world and the impact of efforts to abolish those practices. We will focus on the implications of the recent revival of slavery by organizations like ISIS and Boko Haram, tieing their actions to the rise of human trafficking in the Muslim world and the religious debate concerning whether Islam can truly permit abolition of all slavery and human trafficking within its orbit.

Abstract art did not come about by accident. It had everything to do with what was going on in Europe politically and socially in the beginning of the 20th century. It was the run-up to WWI, and an atmosphere of anarchy prevailed. Everything was thrown out the window, even art as it was supposed to be. Suddenly the old rules no longer applied! What happened gave us the artistic freedom we value even today. Let's explore how abstract art was born in the midst of a world falling apart.
